I bet I spent at least 1/4 of the playtime watching those. The spell books you find (called Mana Eggs or whatever) are too overlapping and underwhelming, instead of giving you a real sense of progression. However, in practice - due to the low difficulty - all characters play essentially the same, your stats don't matter much, and I maybe used four or five spells and only the first, basic Canceling skill of each character consistently throughout. The combat system itself and the amount of skill and spell customization are fine. About on par with Shadowrun: Hong Kong, though. You know the difficulty is casual when the game is easier than even Trails in the Sky or Final Fantasy XIII. This must be among the easiest RPGs I've ever played. However, I regret the decision to play on Normal now - here are my random impressions of Grandia II on Normal in no particular order: Trigger warning: I played on Normal, not Hard, since 30 minute long HP-bloated boss fights aren't my thing. I only have the final dungeon left to go through now, which I don't feel like doing. I almost finished Grandia II, which I recently bought on Steam.
